CARE & EDUCATION (FEECCE 46th Intake)
PRACTICUM: TEACHING ATTACHMENT
ACTIVITY PLAN
Target Age Group: About 2 years old Date: 19 Dec 2011
Activity: Art and craft Group size: 5
Objectives:
To teach the children how to paste and know the different textures of the materials used.
Materials Required:
cotton wool, glitters, glue, cut-out of pictures from wrapping paper.
Procedures:
Introduction:
Tell the children that Christmas is coming. Today, we are going to make a Christmas poster. Explain to them the things that are associated with Christmas like the Christmas tree, decorations, snow and Santa Claus. For the poster the materials as decorations for the tree and cotton wools for the snow
Process:
- I will play a Christmas song while getting the children to settle down and get the materials ready.
- Ask the children what is this song then tell them it is a Christmas song. (Refer to introduction)
- Show them the picture of the Christmas tree and Santa Claus. Ask them who is behind the Christmas tree. Then tell them that we are going to decorate to make the tree beautiful.
- Let the children feel the texture of the coloured paper and cotton wools. Tell them that the paper is smooth and the cotton wool is soft.
- Next I will use the glue and ask them to paste “Merry” at the at the top and “Christmas” at the bottom of the drawing block, word by word, I will guide them when necessary
- Help them to stick the cut-outs from the wrapping paper on the “Christmas Tree”.
- Glue the lines on the Christmas tree and ask the children to shake the glitters on it.
- give each child piece of cotton wool and ask them to tear into small bits for the snow
- I will dot both sides of the poster with glue and ask the children to paste the cotton wool on it
Closure:
Praise the children for being creative and they are able to follow instruction, thank them for being cooperative. Tell them that I am going to write their names on the poster and we are so proud of them.
Evaluation:
Through this art and craft activity the children are able to use their fine motor skills to do pasting and to tear the cotton wool. It will teach the children to do it as a team and learn to follow instructions. It will also develop their concentration skills. They can see their work on the poster and when i praise them it will give them a sense of achievement.
